Comunidad Villacana (The Villacana Community) is a mature and long-established community of some 340 privately-owned properties in one of the finest beachside urbanisations on the Costa del Sol.  All the properties are located within a secure, gated perimeter and under the direct control of the owners.

The original development comprised two separate areas – Villacana North (nearest the main road and which is now a timeshare resort operated by MacDonald Resorts) and Villacana South (which is right on the beach and is the Community of Owners).

As with all such communities, Villacana is managed via the owners’ Annual General Meeting, where members elect a President from their number; they also appoint an Administrator. The President has an Advisory Group which contributes ideas, support and counsel and meet twice a year. The Administrator handles all the day-to-day management of the area, the staff, income and payments and (e.g.) dealing with the authorities.

Villacana is located about a 15 minute drive away from the towns of Estepona, San Pedro de Alcántara and Puerto Banús and only about 20 minutes from Marbella.  The houses are set in a pedestrianized environment with grassed areas, planted beds, trees and bushes, attractive pathways and a variety of pools. It has excellent facilities for the family.

Villacana was designed in the 1960s by Miguel Oliver after the style of a typical Andalusian “white town” or pueblo blanco, for a Canadian development company.  They chose the name of the urbanisation and selected the logo of a Canadian maple leaf with the red and yellow of the Spanish national flag in diagonal form.  Although Villacana is now managed by its owners (The Community of Owners) the original name and emblem have been retained.
